Transition Timeline

Making a successful and happy move from Primary School to Christ the King College

We strive to make the transition from Year 6 to Christ the King College as smooth as possible for our students.


Information Exchange

Welcome pack sent to parents, includes important dates  (March 2019)

Primary School student information request (April 2019)

Invite to Parents information evening sent to Year 6 parents (June 2019)

Students are invited to Year 6 transition days (June 2019)

All students will be visited at their primary school by the Transition Leader and Annual Reviews will be attended where possible

Students with Special Educational Needs will be visited by our SEN coordinator and transition plans will be discussed with Year 6 teacher

Year 6 Parents' Information Evening (July 2019)

Academic and curriculum information will be provided.

Details about our behaviour policy will be presented

Parents will meet:

Executive Princupal and Head of College

Members of out Senior Leadership Team

Transition Leader

Head of Year 7

Form Teachers

Parents will receive an induction pack

There will also be:

An opportunity to ask any questions about your child's transition

Informal meetings will take place over refreshments

You will have a chance to meet current students

There will be an opportunity to arrange College uniform appointments

Transition Days (July 2019)

Students will:

Meet their form tutor and form group

Experience a variety of lessons and activities

Have the opportunity to familiarise themselves with the College site

Eat lunch in the College Canteen

Induction Day (September 2019)

Introduction Year 7 Worship

Spend time in form learning routines and expectations

Experience lessons and getting used to the College site

Year 7 and 12 only in College on the first day of term

Sixth Form Mentors and teaching assistants will guide students to lessons and support the understanding of timetables.
